story:
When Sinag-Tala was two and a half years old, her grandmother gave her a pallid pearl and a lily which will symbolize her. Sixteen flower seasons had passed since first she came and still she had no pearls – only that little pale one. One day, Lakambini asked her to weave a beautiful basket for the mother of Walang-Gulat. She went to the riverside to gather bamban reeds and young bamboo joints to be used in the basketweaving. There she met Magiting and the two of them enjoyed each other’s company. Magiting decided to marry Sinag-Tala. Lakambini was enraged when she knew of this and plotted to accuse Sinag-Tala of stealing her pearls. The judge ordered Sinag-Tala to dip her hand into a cauldron of boiling water to get a stone. If her hand gets burned in the process, she will be proven guilty. To everyone’s surprise, Walang-Gulat appeared together with his men to bring other gems in exchange for Sinag-Tala’s freedom. But the judge insisted on going through with the trial. Out of nowhere, Pirang-Kawayan appeared with despair in his eyes and suddenly stabbed Sinag-Tala. Lakambini was already too late to tell the truth for Sinag-Tala was already dying.

Once the mishap is done, it can never be turned back and regret will consume you. So with this said, people should really use the brain over the heart.
